Posterior Nasal Swab Culture in Normal Newborns by Feeding Method.

To evaluate the difference of normal flora between breast and formula-fed newborns, we performed quantitative posterior nasal swab culture in 21 breast-and 44 formula-fed newborns. Positive culture rates of total aerobes and total anaerobes were 100% and 98%, respecitively. Two Cases of Goitrous Hypothyroidism in Siblings.

The authors experienced two cases of goitrous hypothyroidism in siblings. The etiology was considered to be defect of iodide organification in steps of thyroxine synthesis. The diagnosis was made on the basis of history, clinical features, thyroid function test, thyroid scanning, ultrasonogram and perchlorate discharge test. We report these cases with a review of related literatres.
